As a nominee for the 2003 Hawaii Music Award Compilation CD of the Year, Legends of the Ukelele features some of today's top Hawaiian ukulele players. There's Imua Garza, just 12 years old performing the age-old 'Stars and Stripes Forever'. Also Bill Tapia (94 years old) plays a wonderful rendition of 'Stardust'. Did you know that Bill Tapia has been playing since he was 7 yrs old? His band played at the opening of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in 1927! And don't forget the whiz kid Jake Shimabukuro who is featured on 'Honu's Dream'. Herb Ohta's 'Kona Wind' is the only known recording of this song! He appears 3 times in this collection, and each song is presented in a different style.
